Russian Swimming Championship 2020 will be held in Kazan
From 25 to 30 October 2020, the Russian Swimming Championship (50m) will be held at the Aquatics Palace in Kazan. It is planned that the championship will be attended by over 700 Russian athletes, as well as foreign swimmers, including the FINA Development Centre scholarship holders: Arina Baikova (Latvia), Davor Petrovski (North Macedonia), Musa Zhalayev (Turkmenistan).

Events in which FINA Development Centre athletes will take part:

Arina Baikova: 100m, 200m backstroke; 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m freestyle;

Davor Petrovski: 50m, 200m butterfly; 200m individual medley;

Musa Zhalayev: 50m, 100m, 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly.

As per the FINA decision, the competition is a qualifying event for the Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan), which will be held in 2021.

'Participation in competitions with the strongest Russian swimmers is a great opportunity for the scholarship holders of our Centre to improve their sports results. We hope for a great performance and wish good luck to our athletes,' comments Ranko Tepavcevic, head of the FINA Development Centre in Kazan.
