Hello! My name is Davor. I am a member of the FINA Swimming Scholarship Programme in Kazan! Today we will explore my country!

North Macedonia is located in the South Eastern part of Europe. The capital of the country is Skopje.

North Macedonia offers its visitors a unique experience of natural wonders, customs and cultures as well as a long tradition of unrivalled hospitality.

There is a number of churches and monasteries. I recommend visiting the Monastery of Saint Panteleimon, the Monastery of St. Jovan Bigorski, the monastery of St. Naum and the Markov monastery. The churches like the Macedonian Orthodox Church attract a great number of visitors. The museums have good collection of exhibits of monuments and artefacts for their visitors as well.

Macedonia has beautiful lakes. These lake regions are a pleasure to visit during the summer months. The Lake Ohrid is one of the most beautiful tourist spots in Macedonia. The lake regions of Dojran, Prespa and Mavrovo also can be visited.

In North Macedonia you can also visit the small villages like Village Lesnovo, Vevčani, Struga. The touristic spots offer fascinating natural sights. There are mountains and several springs, the sight of which can be savoured while on short trips.

Other attractions include fortresses like Marko's Fortress, Skopje Fortress "Kale" and Samuel's Fortress. These monuments have historical significances and reflect the architectural grandeur of the contemporary periods.

While travelling to North Macedonia, tourists can take time out to visit some of the other Macedonia attractions. They can visit the botanical gardens or national parks of Macedonia.

Handball is the most popular sport in North Macedonia. Other sports in Macedonia include football, basketball, volleyball, karate and wrestling. In the summer months, swimming marathons are annual events on Lake Ohrid and during the winter months, there is skiing in Macedonia's winter sports centres.

Welcome to North Macedonia.
