From 10 to 12 September 2020, the Swimming Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan will be held in the "Akcharlak" swimming pool in Kazan.

The key objective of the event is the resumption of long-awaited competitions. For our athletes, this is an important milestone in preparation for the Olympic season and achieving the main goal – participation in Tokyo 2021!

The FINA Development Centre scholarship holders will take part in the event: Arina Baikova (Latvia), Bisma Khan (Pakistan), Musa Zhalaev (Turkmenistan), Davor Petrovski (North Macedonia).

The athletes will participate in the following events:

Davor Petrovski: 50m, 100m freestyle; 50m, 100m butterfly;

Musa Zhalaev: 50m, 100m, 200m freestyle; 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly;

Arina Baikova: 200m backstroke; 200m, 400m freestyle;

Bisma Khan: 50m, 100m freestyle; 50m backstroke; 50m butterfly.

"We are intensively preparing for new starts and are looking forward to the long-awaited competitions," says Arina Baikova.

"We are gradually gaining shape after the quarantine, and from start to start we will try to get closer to personal records. The goal of the upcoming event is to see in what shape the athletes are. That will help us to move forward," said Gulnara Garipova, head swimming coach of the FINA Development Centre.
