Today, on the February 8, a swimmer from Ghana - Abeku Gyekye Jackson arrived in Kazan.
To reach Kazan Jackson had to have 2 flights: first flight was Accra - Istanbul (6h 55min), then a transit (12-13 hours), next flight Istanbul-Kazan (3hrs 45 min). In general it was a great experience for Jackson.
Before going to Kazan Jackson managed to train but under the strict rules. «It wasn't as much as I used to do before, but at least, it was enough to keep me on track», - commented Jackson.
We asked Jackson to tell us about himself:
«I'm Abeku Gyekye Jackson, 20 years of age. I'm from Accra, Ghana.
I'm privileged to attain the Fina scholarship program .
Ending of last year around October, I received the news that I have been accepted into the FINA Development Centre of Kazan. Words couldn't describe my emotions. I knew in my heart this was the way forward. Getting to train with other amazing talented swimmers from across the World was something I was really looking forward to. FINA Development Programme has helped me to reach this destination, and now I'll be training with the best of athletes from different countries across the globe. It is my aim to bring the best out of me each training session and to qualify for the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games and the Fina World Swimming Championships by time. I know with the help of my coaches back in Ghana and the coaches at the FINA Development Centre this goal can be achieved», - commented Jackson.
Welcome to Kazan, dear Jackson! Who is really looking forward to the opportunities, will definitely get it! So, work hard and achieve what you desire!
